Monday, July 14

4:05 PM ET

So a funny (or not so funny) thing happened on the way to getting my desktop repaired last Saturday by a Geek Squad (Best Buy) technician coming to my home.  My service window was 10:00-2:00.

At 10:00, I get a call from Best Buy.  “Brian, the man who was coming over to service the computer got seriously ill this morning and was hospitalized.”

The guy then proceeds to repeat a few times, “he was hospitalized.”  I didn’t ask for this, I didn’t need to know the details…it was kind of bizarre.

The problem is, now I’m scheduled for this Wednesday.  Oh brother.  It will be two weeks then.

I’m only surviving thanks to a terrific tech support guy at my local Staple’s, who has done all kinds of servicing on my laptop, without which I’d be dead in the water.

Oh, and I never told you I was rearended by a landscaping truck a week ago and that has taken up time I don’t have.  The unlicensed driver (his company thankfully has insurance) banged me at a Stop sign.

So hang with me, boys and girls.  In the meantime I’ll post a quick market review in this space until I restart the videos.

For Monday, July 14….

Dow Jones…+88 [44459]
S&P 500…+8 [6268]
Nasdaq…+54 [20640…new record]

Oil (WTI)…$67.10
Gold…$3357
Bitcoin…$119,870

10-year Treasury…4.42%

Bitcoin is hitting new record highs ($122,800 earlier today) largely on expectations three key pieces of crytpto-related legislation will be passed in Congress soon, as well as massive buying by ETFs.

Much of it is related to stablecoins – cryptocurrencies whose value is tied to the dollar.

Also, President Trump today said he would punish Russia with further tariffs if there isn’t a deal to end the war in Ukraine within 50 days, the latest example of his rising anger with Vladimir Putin, though there should be no waiting 50 days!

Have a good night, back tomorrow.
